Rhythm and Flow

rhythm: a strong, regular, repeated pattern of movement or sound.

How many times have you heard a song and then, all of a sudden, you find yourself moved or dancing to the beat of that song?   And when you start grooving to the track, doesn’t it put the biggest smile on your face, make your body tingle and fill your soul?  You become overwhelmed with all these feelings of pleasure and happiness and you can’t stop this unbelievable wave of energy that comes rushing through your entire body.  It’s almost like the rest of the world doesn’t exist and, in that moment, you get swept away.  Well, this is what it feels like when you meet that perfect someone.  And whether it be the perfect someone for the moment or the perfect someone for the long haul, you have to just let yourself be taken by the spirit of the whole situation and let yourself go.

This is what I like to call the “Rhythm and Flow”.  Every now and then, when you meet someone, there’s this unspoken energy that happens between the two of you. A spark if you will, that you just can’t explain, that creates this amazing level of intensity that is off the charts.  So much so, to a point, that there’s this movement between the both of you that becomes utterly…. Simpatico!

Not to say that there’s a clock on this, but these moments are far and few in between and sometimes get mistaken for lust or infatuation.  Now, I’m not saying that you can’t walk out the door and then all of sudden walk right into something like this.  I’m just saying don’t get swept away or caught up in the moment without taking a minute to check in with yourself and breath.  Make sure that you are in the right frame of mind and mental space (at the time) to know the difference because it does feel very similar.  And when you feel like you’ve checked all the boxes and it all points to yes; well, then and only then can you really let the rhythm and flow of the moment guide you.   And ah man, let me tell you, what a wonderful ride and experience it truly is!

So, let me give you a little history about my experiences with Rhythm and Flow.  I feel very fortunate to have had a few times in my life where I’ve experienced the “perfect” Simpatico with someone.  Each time it felt as if I was on the dance floor watching my favorite DJ playing and, all of sudden, you get hit with this song that just takes you away.  You close your eyes, raise your arms to the sky and just become one with the music and in that moment, you feel, as if you’re as light as a feather and floating on air.  There’s no one else around you and nothing else around you matters.   You’ve become one with the rhythm and flow and it takes you on this amazing journey.  Imagine what that must feel like with the right partner: effortless, seamless, and comfortable.  The ebb and flow of the communication, respect and sex…. create this perfect harmony.  And depending on the person, there are endless variations to this equation but they all come up with the same answer:  Perfect.   I mean don’t get me wrong, I’ve also had my fair share of being deceived by Impostors and phony experiences.  You know what I’m talking about.   You know that song that starts off with this incredible intro and teases you with all the makings of an extraordinary ride and then falls short of all expectations.  Leaving you standing there on the dance floor looking for the exit.  Sometimes we get derailed by the shortcomings and have to cut our losses before we get too deep.  Unfortunately, some are blinded by the dance lights and it takes them just a little bit longer to come out of the fog.  Regardless, it’s a journey none-the-less.  And the more we can understand what makes us feel really passionate and happy; and what gives us the right combination of tone and structure.  Only then, will we be able to find perfect harmony.
